About Me

Hi, my name is Alexandra. I live in the North West of England and  I am a total bookworm and adore reading! I am also an author, writing my first book and publishing later in 2025.

I love the English language, its complexities, and the pictures one can paint with the right selection of words.  The right story can transport you to other worlds, other realities, to sunny beaches, bustling cities and far away planets.

I started as an ARC (advanced reader copy prior to publication) reader for numerous authors and advanced to Beta (prior to final draft providing feedback to authors) and Alpha reading (first finalised draft, providing feedback, highlighting any plot holes, character development and feedback on general storyline).

From this I have advanced into proofreading and copy/line editing for multiple authors and continue to enjoy helping indie authors to produce final polished works of literary art!

Why should I choose you as my proofreader/editor?

My experience includes:

Two science degrees, the latter, a First Class with Honours.

I have experience in proofreading minutes, transcripts and legal documents at local government level.

I have 2 years experience as a University Lecturer, overseeing and marking Undergraduate and Masters level essays and dissertations.

I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders, and have undergone the required training for membership.

I have proofread and edited multiple books by indie authors (see testimonials page).

How do I send my work to you?

I can accept documents formatted in MS Word or Google Docs for editing and proofing.  PDFs can also be accepted for smaller pieces of work, i.e. leaflets or posters.

What does the process for editing my work involve?

Firstly, you can send me a sample of the work prior to us discussing your project, either by email or meet via Teams meeting (useful for large scale writing projects). Samples of up to 1000 words can be sent if you are wanting a sample of editing and/or proofreading prior to booking in.

This will allow us to discuss the aim and the feel of your project to ensure we are both working toward the same outcome.  This will help me see your vision and we can discuss the level of editing you feel you need.

Following this, you can email me the full document.  I will then go through the work with my editing suggestions, highlighting areas that may need extra focus or rewording.  This will then be sent back to you to action these changes or suggestions.

If proofreading is also required, once changes are made by yourself, and you have formatted the document as you want it, you can then send the completed document to me for proofreading.  I will then correct any issues with grammar, punctuation, spacing and capitalisation etc as well as providing track changes to enable you to see any changes made.
